Is hypnosis dangerous?HYPNOSIS IS NOT DANGEROUS. You cannot be made to do anything that is against your moral values. Stage hypnotists (who are performing a show and may be using "actors/cohorts" in the audience to create a dramatic show) often give the public a false and frightening impression of hypnosis. But even if they are really hypnotizing someone, they might get someone to do something embarrassing, but never anything against their values. You can't get someone to murder if they aren't murderous. You can't get someone to have sex with you if they wouldn't ordinarily have sex with you in other circumstances. If you go to a hypnotist however, make sure it is a licensed professional, with real and valid credentials. Some forms of audio or visual stimuli could possibly trigger a seizure if you are epileptic. Just to be extra safe, always check with your physician before trying hypnosis, self hypnosis, hypnotherapy or using anything that can induce an altered state. Are hypnosis tapes dangerous? The only issue is never use them in a situation in which it isn't safe to become deeply relaxed, or even fall asleep. Never use them in a car for instance, or even let a driver hear it. If you have plans, you may want to set an alarm clock just in case you fall asleep.
